7th Berlin Revolution Film Festival 21-22 October 2023

JURY AWARDS

The Jury of the 7th Berlin Revolution Film Festival, consisting of Sarah Drath and Marija Rodić, has decided to give awards to the following films:

GRAND PRIX – HALF WET by Carlos Irijalba
Jury motivation: The film which is the winner of this year’s Berlin Revolution Film Festival shows us in a very unique, unagitated and non-panicky way how a dystopian scenario on a coast of this planet could look like. The beautifully cadraged images not only leave space to dive into our protagonist’s routine including his thoughts and questions, but leave us as viewers time to comprehend what is at stake: being Half Wet.

SPECIAL MENTION – THE LAND THAT RISES AND DESCENDS by Moona Pennanen
Jury motivation: A Special Mention goes out to a film that takes us to an unknown place which is never resting and where the Super16 material shows us traditions that have their roots in urban myths. The film poetically and unobtrusively connects the moving of sea and land to the questions: What is the future and what is the past?

SPECIAL MENTION – SOME KIND OF INTIMACY by Toby Bull
Jury motivation: Another Special Mention goes out to a film where every breath, every word and everything else is as precisely as it can be. Approaching the topic of loss through sheep on a cemetery opens up a wonderful wonderous space in our heads which leaves a smile on our faces while thinking about our loved ones.

We congratulate to the winners and warmly thank all film makers for sharing their intense, unique and daring films with us!!!
